difficult years. the governor will discuss how the state is number one in education, invasion and regional job recovery. he will discuss what choices we can make to creating jobs and expanding opportunity and strengthening the middle class. happening today also, a news conference to cover upcoming legislation on antihuman tracking a part of the assessforture bill -- forfeiture bill. money would be pud in a fund for trafficking victims. they want to show support for all dog owners including pit bull type dogs many of them disappointed when the court of appeals decision in 2012 that said pit bulls are inherently dangerous. there will be a public hearing on the pit bull compromise bill this afternoon at 2:30. you can catch the governor's state of the state address

murder trial continues. yesterday, jurors saw pictures of the 16-year-old's body as she was found in april. they heard testimony from a number of law enforcement officers detailing a lengthy investigation. prosecutors also called some of michael johnson's family members to the stand. michael johnson is accused of murdering the teen while she was in baltimore visiting family for the holidays. thean arundel county council will hold a emergency session. lawmakers will introduce a bill to have john leopold removed from office. the move comes after a judge handed down a guilty verdict in his trial. yesterday, the judge found the anne arundel county executive guilt every misconduct for using his security details for personal and political purpose. state law requires he be suspended upon this guilty verdict. county council will vote on his future next week. no word on whether or not he will be sentenced. a sold year who lost all four limbs at a roadside bomb

in iraq is thanking doctors for the gifts of hands and arms. >> they performed a double artransplant. this is so rare it took place here in baltimore and it was the most complicated and extensive performed in the u.s. doctors say it could take a number of years before brendan marrocco could fully use the arms e says he is looking forward to restoring a sense of normalcy. >> it feels amazing. it's something that i was waiting for for a long time. and now that it happened, i -- i don't know what to say because it's such a big thing for my life, and it's just fantastic. >> his procedure took 16 surgeons 13 hours. he says the first words he uttered to doctors after work up from surgery was i love you.

4:38. lynette charles joins with us a check of the forecast. you know, we have had fun with it the past several days with the cold and warmup and the snow and ice, nothing too dangerous. that could be changing today. >> all right. so lynette what's happening now. >> right now, we are looking pretty good. you can see maryland's most powerful radar is dry. looking at the green boxes here, these are flood watches and warnings as we go through the rest of the day. now i pull out because this is where the weather is happening now. you can see the line of showers and thunderstorms over some red. these are tornado watches and warnings across the middle section of the country and this is sliding off towards the east going throughout the day. we have had reports and tweets about damage in tennessee and we will have video from mississippi later. but all in all, it's going to be a treacherous day across the middle part of the nation. as it gets closer to us, we have the chance for some isolated showers and thunderstorms in the forecast as well. i will talk about that coming up but right now let's go back to megan and charley. >> back to court for the teen accused shooting a gun at perry

thanks for joining us on this wednesday. he is accused of opening fire at perry hall high school on the first day of classes and today the suspects will be back in court. 15-year-old robert gladden junior is expected to appear before a judge this morning. the hearing will determine whether his case will be heard in criminal court on juvenile

court. he is charged with multiple counts of attempted murder first degree assault reckless endangerment and gun violations. daniel borowy returned to school a few weeks ago. he was sear rousely hurt -- seriously hur in the shooting. today, people in the connecticut are developing for a public hearing voicing their opinions to lawmakers looking to prevent similar tragedies. the meet will go focus on guns and school safety and mental health. that sandy hook school shooting had districts looking at ways to better protect their students. and a school in northwest illinois is taking action so students are prepared. administrators are using the sound of gunfire during drills to teach children what to do in case of an emergency. the drill has mixed reactions this morning from parents and some say it's good idea and others don't think it's necessary. school officials in our

area are taking steps to make sure your children are safe. yesterday baltimore county unveiled a plan to step up security right now every middle and high school in the county has a school resource officer. but elementary schools don't. for those schools, the county wants to add more security cameras that will stream live into police cars and the precinct and the county police headquarters. they will be a new controlled entry system installed on every i do. door. county has to get approval for more than 4 million dollars price tag for the project. you have to look at this. bad weather conditions created this scene in australia. howling winds and heavy rains churred up the sea near the coast coast causing sea foam to wash up on the beaches. it's created by impurities churned up together by powerful currents which causes the water to form bubbles. it looks fun but then you hear impurities and i don't know. >> a little gross. >> yeah. >> i will stand back and watch and look at that. that's not too good. let's talk about what's not to good for us at home. we have the potential for

severe weather. as we look back off towards the west, we see a long line of strong thunderstorms moving across the area. and this is moving towards us as we go through the rest of today. but right now, the only thing we are dealing with is patchy fog once again like yesterday. we have lots of clouds around and temperatures are on the mild side. but what we have in place is that mild air ahead of that cold front. behind that cold front, we have colder air mixing in and we are going to see the potential for some severe weather. we are talking about damaging winds as we go through the evening time frame. and also maybe even hail with this, small hail. we will see how it unfolds but we will be all over it on top of it and also this is a great time to get our storm shield app to follow along with the storm system as we go throughout the day. now temperatures this morning are mild. look at 57 degrees right now in mount airy. 50 in manchester. pylesville at 45 and 47 right now in baltimore. temperatures are well above our

high temperatures for this time of the year. yesterday, we came in at 66 degrees. today, i am forecasting a high around 68, 69 degrees. so, let's look at abc2's most accurate forecast. future trend shows what will happen. this is the line of thunderstorms that is going to move in and we can see maybe around 9:00 or 10, but the heaviest rain will push in as we go into 11, midnight overnight into tomorrow. so, it locks like we could escape the commute being a little on the wet side coming home today. but on the tail end of the commute tomorrow, we could be seeing some more rain across the area. look what happens on the backside of the system. yes, we are talking about very cold air once again. so snow is in the forecast. i am going to put that in there as we go into friday, thursday night, friday morning. by today, 68 degrees. mild and breezy and those showers will be possible as we go into the afternoon. but the thunderstorms more likely as we go into the evening. that temperature coming in at 43 and by tomorrow we will and the 45 colder and breezy. let's check the abc2 timesaver
